Default Thirsty River

Im stucked in this mission. Thirsty river.
I tries it with different teams about 4 times and every time i failed.
First group isnt that difficult, the 2nd and 3th group on the 2nd battleground isnt difficult too.
But then when on 3d battleground, the first and second group isnt that hard to kill, but when on 3d group I failed 4 times.
Last time I was the last man standing and couldnt res my team cause they were too close to the enemy group, so i fought me to dead.
That priest of that enemy group is very hard to kill, so can anyone who did this mission please help me with this one ?

IGN = Cyron Blade.

Tips are welcome too, but I prefer some help.
Mess me ingame.

The last group of the final wave is really the only difficult part of the Thirsty River mission, and for one reason: It has two monks. There is a monk boss (blue aura) in the last group as well as the priest. When fighting this last group, I always ignore the timer and just focus on taking out the monk boss. Once that boss is out of the way, you can retreat, heal up, and try again. If you go after the priest with the monk boss still alive, it can be quite difficult, but with the monk boss gone, this final group is as easy as all the others.

Get a good damage dealer to focus on the monk boss and keep him occupied healing himself while the rest of the team takes the priest down. A mesmer or ranger is also helpful by interupting some of the heals.

If everyone spikes the Priest, he will usually go down fast. Having somone distract the boss isn't a bad idea though. BTW, always take out the Priest first, not the boss, IMO.

If you kill the boss monk first but don't eliminate the priest then you'll end up fighting the boss again, so always hit the priest first. Everyone focusing on the priest should drop him, I've been able to do so with the henchies and wa/mo and ne/mo.

If you have any sort of enchantment removal, this is a good time to use it. Interrupting the monks is good too.

This is the area where you really need to have a well rounded group. Mes and Rangers are key. You need to keep the monk boss all tied up, while the rest of the group creams the preist.

Wow, I've beat this one with only henchies. It's not that hard, but, the monk is the key, you have to take him out first and being that henchmen do obey and LISTEN TO ME I have no trouble whatsoever beating this part.

Problem is finding a group that will LISTEN TO ONE PLAYER and cordinate their attacks on ONE creature. Too many idiots in this game, it's why I use henchies most all the time. They are actually brighter than most people I've encountered.

The Monk boss only spawns like 30% of the time anyway (Its usually this sucky ranger boss).

Its just bad luck if you keep getting monk :\

I love Interuption. Take that statement to heart. What? your standard Warrior/Nuker/Monk cant interupt good? Just give one of the nukers Mealstorm, or...employ any ranger or mesmer "LFGing" and tell them to pack interupts. Though Mealstrom works better in this case.

You must be thinking of another mission. Josso Esher the monk boss spawns every time in Thirsty River, as do the other 5 bosses and their teams.

My team had one Mesmer keeping the boss busy while we beat up the priest. If you can take care of that group in one go getting the bonus is almost confirmed. Also, try to get this group done first.

Your guild isn't willing to help?

These missions CAN be hard but shouldn't be, just join a PUG and offer the advice you see here:

- bring interrupts. Warriors have em too.
- kill the priests
- wait for the clock before rushing off to fight the next team (every 2 minutes enemies rez so start attack at 3:50 for example)
- have everyone bring rez signets to raise fallen allies, they reset when a boss is killed.

As someone else suggested, get your guild to help. Best groups in my experience are guild groups.

We have a fairly large guild and seems someone is always needing to do these later game missions. I'll give you a whisper next time we are forming a group to do Thirsty.

Got tired of spamming "lfg" as a lvl17 necro so I started a mostly necro group. We had lvl16-18, one mesmer, one noob tanker who'd never done mission before and henchie healer...one last group we tok the monk boss second and the center boss last...we had one unfortunate res catch us off-guard and got down to only 2 left alive, a couple res sigs later we were good to go and took the mission. Strategies vary....generally taking the priest first is best (as an unfortunately timed res will get you dead in a hurry)...As for the monk boss, mark of subversion takes a heavy toll if you have no interrupts as a blood necro, as a death/curses necro mark of pain helps eliminate his supporting mobs...just keep spamming mark of pain and shadow of fear on the boss and his minions will drop off while he takes damage.

Necros can also just strip off their protective enchantments as well. Their damage spells ignore armor for the most part, so that sounds like a powerful team.

Well, I cant play with "my" guild cause it IS my guild.
I had just started a guild but not having much members, cause I first wanna complete the game before I start with recruiting.
And I dont like to shout in ascalon or pre searing for members, so I just wanna play with some people to know them better and to help them, maybe then they will join, so help of my guild isnt possible for this mission.
If it was, I didnt had post it here..

They key to this mission is communication and taking it slowly. Anyone who thinks you need to be Level20 and have 2 monks is kidding themselves.

I completed this mission yesterday with the following setup...

Me - W/Mo - Level 16
Lvl19 W/Mo
Lvl18 N/Me
Lvl17 R/Mo
Lvl16 E/Me
Lvl20 W/Mo

As you can see we had no monks whats so ever, the Ranger packed a few heal skills, while us Warriors took a few self heals.

The first battle was easy, kill all mobs, move in for priest and then boss... and pretty much its the same for the others. So here some tips from me having done this mission many times with different characters:

1. Kill some mobs from, Enchated swords and Forgotten, DON'T head right for the priest or boss!

2. Once you killed about 70% of one the groups mobs, or if there is 30 seconds left before group respawns, KILL the PREIST!

3. Always kill the preist first, THEN the boss, never the other way around.

4. Mobs respawn every 2 mins, so if the timer says 7.50, then attack till it rounds off, that way you have a full 2 mins to fight and take out the preist.

5. Have one person call, normally whoever knows the missions best. This is the hard part, communication, some poeple are just unwilling to follow orders.

Good Luck.
